What is Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001)?
ISO 45001:2018 replaces OHSAS 18001:2007 as the globally recognized occupational health and safety management system certification standard. While it is similar to OHSAS 18001, the new ISO 45001 standard adopts the Annex SL top-level framework of all new and revised ISO management system standards.

ISO 45001 requires an organization to formally document the areas that are covered by their OH&S policy and to keep evidence that it is operating according to the requirements of the standard. It is relevant to any organization that wants to conform to legislation and demonstrate to staff and stakeholders that it has systems in place to minimize and eliminate risks.

Companies can integrate the standard into other health and safety programs for workers’ health and wellbeing and fulfil legal requirements. The new standard for OHSMS has the same High-Level Structure (HLS) for improved alignment with other management system standards.
